Naidu, Pawan neglecting Godavari dists: Jogaiah

Before the last assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, veteran Kapu leader and former MP Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah used to target Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan for toeing the line of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and mortgaging the interests of Kapus by accepting only a few seats from the TDP as part of alliance.

After the TDP and its allies won the elections and came to power, Jogaiah became quiet and did not make any serious comments.

He, however, dashed off a letter to the government and also Pawan Kalyan separately, asking them to revive the 5% quota for Kapus under Economically Weaker Sections category, which was abolished by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

He said he had already filed a petition in the high court seeking restoration of reservations and asked the Naidu government to file an affidavit in the court stating that it had no objection to revive the Kapu quota.

After keeping silent for a few more months, Jogaiah was back in action on Friday with yet another letter to the Naidu government saying it was completely neglecting the development of East and West Godavari districts, as was done by the previous YSRCP government.

He demanded that the government should give priority to temple tourism and other packages in the two districts.

He said it should take initiative in the completion of Narasapuram-Kotipalli railway line and take up the new railway line between Narasapiram and Machilipatnam.

Jogaiah’s other demands include: setting up of a dredging harbour at Antarvedi, establishment of petroleum-allied industries at Konaseema, construction of Narasapuram-Sakhinetipalli and Koderu-Ayodhya Lanka bridges, development of Rajahmundry airport as international airport and setting of another airport at Tadepalligudem.

“In the last elections, Pawan Kalyan announced that he was adopting the two Godavari districts. So, it is his responsibility to develop the entire region,” the former MP said.
