As the comments made by power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan over the “alliance dharma” created ripples in Andhra Pradesh politics, Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have decided not to come out with any reactions.
Naidu, who has been busy for the last five days after his return from Ayodhya in the selection of candidates for the party for the upcoming elections, resumed his “Raa Kadali Raa” public meetings on Saturday. He will be taking part in the rallies in Pileru and Uravakonda constituencies.
The TDP chief has become alert following Pawan’s comments that the TDP has violated the coalition dharma by announcing candidates for Mandapeta and Araku constituencies and his announcement of candidates for Razole and Rajanagaram constituencies.
He instructed all his party colleagues at all levels, including social media activists, not to post any messages or make any comments on Pawan Kalyan’s or other Jana Sena party leaders’ comments. He told them that he would handle the situation appropriately.
A seasoned politician that he is, Naidu has realised that any sharp reaction from the party to Pawan’s comments will turn advantageous to the YSRCP, which has been waiting in wings to spread the talk that the alliance has broken.
Already, YSRCP general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy tweeted on Saturday saying the declaring of candidates by the opposition coalition without consulting each other is a trailer of what can be expected of them.
“If they cannot manage their coalition, how can they be trusted with the state? AP needs a strong, decisive & forward looking govt. in 2024 that the @YSRCParty can provide,” Sai Reddy tweeted.
So, Naidu reportedly told the TDP leaders that any hasty comments would damage the party prospects, as it would create confusion among the party leaders.
“In any case, the TDP has to sacrifice certain seats for Jana Sena. There is a broad understanding about who should contest where. So, there is nothing to worry,” he reportedly told them.
Now that Pawan announced the contest in Razole and Rajanagaram constituencies, the TDP chief asked his party’s Andhra unit president K Atchannaidu to hold discussions with the local TDP ticket aspirants and explain the situation to them, sources said.
