It has been nearly a month since YSR Congress party MLA from Nellore (rural), Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, revolted against the party and made strong comments against party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Kotamreddy openly declared that he would be contesting the next elections from the Telugu Desam Party if party president N Chandrababu Naidu gave him a chance, and he declared his loyalty to the TDP.
The YSRC leaders said the MLA had revolted against the party only after meeting Naidu and Lokesh.
Kotamreddy said it would not matter whether he had met the TDP leaders or not, as he had already decided to part ways with the YSRC.
After learning of Kotamreddy’s intentions, the YSRC quickly appointed Nellore MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy as the in-charge of Nellore (rural) assembly constituency to ensure that the party cadre would not defect to the TDP along with Kotamreddy.
Surprisingly, the TDP has also remained silent on the Kotamreddy issue, and there are no signs of the MLA joining the TDP until now.
Neither Naidu nor Lokesh has made any statement in support of the disgruntled MLA.
Apparently, the TDP cadre in Nellore (rural) constituency is strongly opposing Kotamreddy’s entry into the TDP.
They reportedly told the party leadership that the TDP suffered very badly in the constituency due to Kotamreddy until recently.
Naidu realized that if Kotamreddy is admitted into the party, the local cadre might not cooperate with him and the party. So, he is being cautious in this regard.
Only if Kotamreddy joins the party unconditionally might the TDP consider admitting him into the party, sources said.
