Naidu keeping safe distance from BJP?

It appears Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to keep away from the Bharatiya Janata Party and maintain silence, instead of giving an impression that he is craving for an alliance with the saffron party.

It was evident from the way Chandrababu Naidu reacted strongly to a question from the media asking him to comment on the statement of Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment A Narayana Swamy that the TDP would have an alliance with the BJP and Jana Sena combine in the 2024 elections in the state.

“I don’t want to react to such statements from insignificant leaders and degrade myself,” Naidu said, indicating that he would react only when the top brass of the BJP comes out with a concrete statement on the alliances.

Apparently, Naidu is not happy with the way the BJP government at the Centre is going out of the way to help the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state by permitting to raise loans left, right and the centre and approving housing schemes in Amaravati etc.

At the same time, the TDP chief is also going cautious in the wake of the appointment of former Union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari as the state BJP chief. He wants to wait and see what decisions the BJP would take under her leadership.

Naidu also gave a message that if necessary, he would not hesitate to fight against the Centre, if it continued to help the YSRC.

“For us, the interests of the state are paramount. We shall go to any extent to fight for the state. Even the Centre had to come down when people fought for Jallikattu in Tamil Naidu,” he reminded, indicating that he could even fight with the Centre for the state’s rights.
