Even after seven years of the bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu continues to remain a non-resident Andhraite.
Naidu still doesn’t have his own residence in Andhra Pradesh, which he had ruled for five long years post bifurcation. His non-resident status continues to be a strong point for the ruling YSR Congress party to target him.
“The people of Andhra Pradesh have understood one thing about Naidu. If he is not in power, the state is just a tourist place for him. He has his own house in Hyderabad, his son Lokesh stays in Hyderabad and even his adopted son (read: Pawan Kalyan of Jana Sena Party) also doesn’t own a house in AP and lives in Hyderabad,” YSRC MP from Bapatla Nandigam Suresh said.
He said that was precisely why the people of Andhra Pradesh are not able to own up Naidu and his son.
“The people are treating father-son duo as guests for AP and they continue to be treated as guests. There is no need of Naidu in the state at all,” Suresh said.
The MP said it was true that Jagan had built his own house at Tadepalli just before the previous assembly elections.
“But he was a resident of Andhra Pradesh for a long time. He has his vote at Pulivendula in Kadapa district,” he pointed out.
On the other hand, Naidu, his wife and his son had votes in Hyderabad till 2017-18. Just before the last assembly elections, they got enrolled as voters in Mangalagiri.
“So, Naidu doesn’t have connection with even his constituency Kuppam. That is why, the people are defeating his party in Kuppam. Such was the plight of Naidu that he had to hire crowds for his recent meeting in Kuppam,” Suresh said.
He pointed out that Naidu had forgotten that he was an MLA of Kuppam.
“It was evident from the way he asked the people whether he could stay back in Kuppam or give it up. It clearly shows the kind of panic Naidu is in. It is time he retires from politics and take rest in his Hyderabad bungalow,” the MP added.
