Naidu has no proof against Jagan in Adani deal

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has absolutely no chance of fixing his predecessor and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the alleged corruption in the solar power purchase deal with Adani.

It was evident from his comments before the media that he doesn’t want to target Jagan just out of political vendetta though the US indictment of Adani for the alleged bribes to Jagan was a huge opportunity for him to target the YSRCP chief and send him to jail.

“We cannot take any action in the bribery allegations, unless there is a concrete proof. We are waiting for the proof in the US court,” Naidu told reporters at an interaction on Wednesday.

He said the state government cannot scrap power purchase agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) without any evidence.

“If we cancel the agreement right away then it may lead to legal issues and unnecessary complications,” Naidu said.

The chief minister stressed that he can proceed with action on anybody only after thoroughly establishing the documentary proofs in reaction to questions from reporters as to why he is not acting against certain individuals.

"I never indulge in political vendettas. However, I will not spare wrongdoers. Regardless of how great they are, the culprits should be brought to justice" he said, adding that he would take action only after procuring the required documentary evidence.
