Naidu gives serious warning to erring MLAs

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday pulled up his party MLAs and MPs, who are facing allegations of corruption through sand and liquor mafia and warned that the party would have to face the same fate of the YSRCP if they continue to do so.

“During the previous YSR Congress party government, their party leaders looted public resources, including land, sand and liquor. The people have silently watched this plundering of state and taught them a big lesson in the assembly elections,” Naidu recalled, while addressing his party MLAs, MPs and other senior leaders.

He said the people would keep everything in mind.

“Don’t take them for granted, just because they are silent about what you are doing. Let us not face the same situation as the YSRCP had faced in the elections,” he said.

Naidu requested that the MLAs and MPs should not repeat the mistakes committed by the YSRCP leaders and indulge in any activity that would bring a bad name to the party and the government.

“Every mistake committed by the party leaders or a government employee will ultimately reflect on the chief minister. In the same manner, any good work done by the MLAs or MPs will fetch credit to the chief minister,” he said.

The chief minister said the leaders should not poke their nose in the liquor business.

“Only Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy family has been in the liquor business for several decades. Others should not enter this business to make money through illegal means,” he warned.

He said the people had voted for the TDP and its alliance partners with a hope that they would deliver a clean and corruption-free administration. They hoped that the BJP-led Centre will help the state in all aspects. Let us not betray their faith, he said.

He said if the TDP leaders were under the impression that they would have to earn money to win the next elections, they were mistaken.

“The YSRCP leaders had made huge money through corruption and spent money lavishly in the elections. Yet, their party ended up with just 11 seats. The people had voted for the TDP and its allies because they had faith in us. Otherwise, we would not have won 93 percent of seats in the elections,” he said.
