Naidu, Daggubati families meet, greet after long time!

After perhaps more than two decades, the families of Nara and Daggubati have come together and exchanged pleasantries, thereby leading to a talk as to whether they have sunk their differences and come together.

The occasion was the “bridal ceremony” of Telugu Desam Party founder, former chief minister and legendary actor N T Rama Rao’s granddaughter in Hyderabad on Friday. She is the daughter of NTR’s youngest daughter Uma Maheshwari.

Though both Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari and Daggubati’s wife Purandeshwari, are siblings, their families had not been in talking terms for long.

Even at the family functions in the past, there were no instances of the two sisters or their husbands speaking to each other.

Daggubati initially joined hands with Naidu in dethroning NTR due to Lakshmi Parvathi episode, but later both parted ways, as the latter felt ignored by Naidu after the latter became the chief minister.

He first joined the Lakshmi Parvathi camp, but later deserted her and later jumped into the Congress along with his wife Purandeshwari. Subsequently, the couple shifted their loyalties to the BJP. He even wrote a book on the Viceroy hotel episode, wherein he made critical comments against Naidu.

While Purandeshwari continued in the BJP, Daggubati and his son defected to the YSR Congress party floated by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Daggubati unsuccessfully contested the elections from Parchur assembly constituency. But later, he quit the party due to differences with Jagan.

Both Daggubati and his wife had been very critical of Naidu all these days. However, during the recent episode of some YSRC members allegedly passing vulgar comments against Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari, Purandeshwari condemned the same and extended solidarity with her sister.

Against this backdrop, the meeting of Daggubati and Naidu families at Umamaheshwari’s daughter’s function evoked a lot of curiosity.

Naidu and Daggubati posed for photographs together and held each other’s hands. So did Bhuvaneshwari and Purandeshwari.

Both the couples not only exchanged pleasantries but also were found talking to each other heartily. This led to the talk as to whether the two families buried their differences and came together again.

Will this bonhomie turn into a political re-alliance remains to be seen.
