Naidu Conducting Caste-Based Surveys?

YSR Congress party on Saturday accused Telugu Desam Party government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of conducting surveys with an objective of eliminating pro-YSRC voters from the electoral list.

YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that the Naidu government was indulging in an organised and centralised data collection.

The framing of questionnaire was aimed at decisively concluding as to which party the person would be voting in the 2019 elections.

The questionnaire also has in it details seeking the basis of his consideration including caste.

“Based on this data, the government is trying to tamper with the electorate list,” Reddy said, adding that such a practice was highly objectionable.

He said surveys could be conducted in the normal course but seeking information on the pattern of voting on caste basis, the media channels the person would be viewing and newspapers he would be reading, shows that the survey was being conducted only to find out those persons who were sympathetic to YSR Congress party.

“The data with such an extensive spread of questions is being stored at a central server and immediately after the survey some names are deleted and on the other hand, dual voters are being listed by the TDP and most of them are from Hyderabad,” Sajjala alleged.

“We appeal to the people to be alert during the surveys and check the name in the voters list as there seems to be a high level operation of manipulating the voters list,” he said, adding that the Naidu government had been tampering with the voters list fearing imminent defeat.
