At last, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu managed to convince senior party leader S V S N Varma from Pithapuram in Kakinada district to extend support to Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, who declared his candidature from the seat for the upcoming assembly elections.
Varma, who raised a banner of revolt against the TDP leadership and declared that he would fight the elections as an independent from Pithapuram, came down to Undavalli residence of Naidu to meet the boss.
Naidu had a tough time in appeasing Varma and told him his coalition compulsions.
“We need to do some sacrifices if we have to win the elections. Please cooperate with me. I shall take care of your political interests,” he said.
Apparently, the TDP chief promised to make Varma a member of legislative council in the first opportunity.
“You will be the first candidate to become an MLC, once the TDP comes to power. I shall also give you a respectable position once we form the government,” he said.
Varma had no option but to get mellowed down. He told reporters that it was true that he was thoroughly disappointed for not being given the ticket because of alliances, as he had been working for the TDP for the last 20 years.
“I have no intention to create troubles for Naidu or Pawan Kalyan. I shall extend support to the Jana Sena chief and see that he wins the elections. I am sure Naidu will do justice to me,” he said.
Later in the evening, Varma went to the residence of Pawan Kalyan and extended support to him in Pithapuram.
