Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will not lose any opportunity to cash in on any issue that would fetch him some political mileage.
On Wednesday, Naidu roped in his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari to join the agitation by farmers of Amaravati to exploit women sentiment, after noticing that most of the agitators include women.
Never in the past had Bhuvaneshwari directly involved in political activity. Most of the time, she would be busy taking care of her family and her business concern Heritage Foods in Hyderabad. Occasionally, she takes part in social service activities on behalf of NTR Memorial Trust.
Only during the last assembly elections, she took the responsibility of coordinating with the party cadre in Kuppam assembly constituency represented by her husband, since he was busy campaigning elsewhere in the state.
But she had never addressed any political meetings nor had she participated in any election rallies. At least her daughter in law Nara Brahmani had campaigned for her husband Nara Lokesh in Mangalagiri for a couple of days.
Now, Naidu brought Bhuvaneshwari directly into the people along with him to address the womenfolk of Amaravati who have been on streets for the last 15 days demanding that Amaravati be retained as state capital.
She said her husband had always strived for the people and their welfare, ignoring his own family.
"Family is the second priority for Chandrababu as he always strived for farmers’ welfare hence developed Amaravati,” she said.
Bhuvaneshwari said building a world class capital city at Amaravati and completing Polavaram project were his dreams.
“He will never disappoint you,” she said.
