Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who will complete 100 days in office in four days, might be receiving some positive reports about his government’s performance.
However, he is reportedly very upset with negative feedback from certain parts of the state regarding his own party's MLAs, which he fears could damage the party's image in the coming days and tarnish his reputation.
Naidu, who is currently in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for an official meeting, is expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the performance of every MLA over the last 100 days. This review will be based on inputs he has received from state intelligence and the party network.
Reports from intelligence sources suggest that some MLAs are involved in rampant corruption at the grassroots level, such as extorting commissions from contractors, monopolizing sand supply, harassing local traders, and accepting large kickbacks for transferring officials.
What has angered Naidu further is that some officials and police officers who wielded power during the YSR Congress Party regime continue to do so after bribing TDP MLAs.
Additionally, some TDP legislators are reportedly colluding with YSRCP leaders to exploit public resources for quick financial gains, according to sources.
Naidu has also received reports that some women MLAs are using their husbands to engage in corrupt activities. These husbands, acting like the real MLAs, have been dictating terms to officials, sources said.
It is believed that Naidu might issue strict warnings to these MLAs, and three or four of them could be expelled from the party. The police may also be asked to keep a close watch on them.
Naidu is expected to finalize the appointments for nominated posts within a day or two, and those facing allegations in their constituencies will likely be excluded from the list, which will be released soon.
