At last, senior actor and former Rajya Sabha member Manchu Mohan Babu is all set to make a re-entry into politics by joining YSR Congress party.
According to party sources, Mohan Babu is going to meet YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Guntur district on Sunday and formally join the party.
In all probability, he will take part in the election campaign on behalf of the party in some selected constituencies.
Though Mohan Babu cannot expect any post or position right now, he might get the nomination to the Rajya Sabha if YSRC comes to power in the April 11 assembly elections.
For the last two days, the firebrand actor had been fretting and fuming on Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for denying him permission to hold rally with students of his Sri Vidya Niketan Group of Institutions in Tirupati.
He was terribly upset with Naidu for prompting the TDP leaders to make wild allegations against him stating that he had misused public funds and there were financial irregularities in his educational institutions.
“I can give accounts for each and every paisa that was collected from students. Can you give accounts for thousands of crores you have amassed in the last five years?” Mohan Babu asked and threatened to disclose Naidu’s conspiracy in dethroning N T Rama Rao from power.
For quite some time, Mohan Babu has been attacking Naidu government for failing to implement fee reimbursement scheme. He alleged that Naidu was harassing the students of his institution by not reimbursing their tuition fees.
Mohan Babu, who was an active member of the Telugu Desam Party in ‘90s, was nominated to Rajya Sabha when N T Rama Rao was the TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister in 1994.
He was also instrumental in bringing Jayaprada in to politics. However, after his Rajya Sabha term was completed, he did not get the RS nomination again and gradually, he distanced himself from the TDP and withdrew from active politics.
