After a gap of more than one and a half months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be entering Andhra Pradesh for campaigning in the elections on May 7 and 8.
But according to the schedule released by the Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership, he will be campaigning only in those constituencies where the party is contesting.
On March 17, Modi addressed the first election rally of the National Democratic Alliance partners – BJP, Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party at Chilakaluripet in Palnadu district and shared the dais with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.
But now, as per the schedule of the BJP, Modi will be campaigning only in three Parliamentary constituencies and an assembly constituencies where the BJP is contesting and not in other constituencies where the two NDA allies are in fray.
He will address a rally at 3.30 pm on May 7 at Vemagiri near Rajahmundry where Daggubati Purandeshwari is in fray and at 5.45 pm at Rajupalem in Anakapalli constituency where C M Ramesh is contesting.
On May 8, the Prime Minister will conduct a public meeting at Pileru to campaign for BJP candidate N Kiran Kumar Reddy from Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency.
Later, he will address a road show at Vijayawada (West) assembly constituency where BJP candidate Sujana Chowdary is contesting on the BJP ticket.
It is not immediately known whether Naidu and Pawan Kalyan will share the dais with Modi in these public meetings and roadshows, in the wake of reports that all is not well beween the BJP and the other two alliance partners of NDA.
It will also be interesting to see whether the TDP and Jana Sena Party candidates contesting the assembly seats, which are part of these three Lok Sabha seats where the BJP is fighting, to attend Modi’s public meetings.
It would also be interesting to see whether Modi will appeal to the people to vote for the TDP-Jana Sena combine in the elections, or confine only to the BJP.
