Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu turned 69 on Saturday and entered 70th year.
As usual, he has been flooded with birthday greetings from both well-wishers s and political rivals alike.
It is quite natural that even his bitter rivals in politics like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy extended their greetings to Naidu through Twitter, at least for public consumption.
However, there is an interesting observation in the greetings extended by Modi and Jagan.
The Prime Minister tweeted: "Greetings to Andhra Pradesh CM, @ncbn Garu on his birthday. Praying for his long and healthy life.”
Since Modi is still the Prime Minister, he has to acknowledge Naidu as the chief minister of a state, though elections are over and Naidu’s fate is sealed in the EVM.
May be, it also has a sarcastic touch: wishing Naidu as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for one last time, as Modi firmly believes that the TDP chief is going to lose power after the declaration of results on May 23.
On the other hand, Jagan’s birthday greetings to Naidu were very simple.
It said: “Warm birthday greetings to @ncbn garu.” Nowhere Jagan has acknowledged Naidu as the chief minister of the state.
In fact, the YSRC chief and his party leaders have never consider Naidu as the chief minister, as is evident from their daily press releases which only say: “Chandrababu Naidu” and not “chief minister or TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.”
Even Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao, who doesn’t lose any opportunity to run down Naidu also extended courteous greetings.
He tweeted: “Many returns of the day to Hon’ble CM AP Sri @ncbn Garu on his birthday. May you be blessed with a long, healthy and peaceful life and many more years in public service sir.”
Many national leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, and others have also wished Naidu.
