MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy from Udayagiri in Nellore district held a meeting with TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Saturday.
As Lokesh's Yuva Galam padayatra is set to enter Nellore district on June 13, Chandrasekhar Reddy and other TDP leaders discussed the arrangements for the padayatra in the district during their meeting with Lokesh.
Chandrasekhar Reddy, who was suspended from the YSR Congress during the MLC elections, expressed his intention to join the TDP along with Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, and Undavalli Sridevi.
He stated that if given the opportunity, he would contest the next general election on a TDP ticket, and if not, he would work for the party.
Chandrasekhar Reddy revealed that he had met Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy five times, requesting a ticket to contest the next election. However, he was informed by Jagan Mohan Reddy that he would be offered an MLC seat but not an MLA seat.
Dissatisfied with the response and treatment he received, Chandrasekhar Reddy decided to leave the YSR Congress.
He expressed his commitment to working with TDP leaders in the district, including Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, to ensure the defeat of the YSR Congress in the upcoming election in Nellore district.
