Media's Selective Amnesia: Thousands Of Crore Mystery

For five years, from 2019 to 2024, mainstream and social media had only one word on repeat- "Reddy, Reddy, Reddy!"

Whether it was a social media post, a contract, or a tender, the question was always the same — who owns the company, and does it have "Reddy roots"? The media loved dissecting every deal, hunting for caste connections.

But suddenly, they seem to have lost interest. Just a day before the new government takes over, contracts worth thousands of crores were finalized in Amaravati. And guess what? Silence. No breaking news, no investigative reports, not even a casual mention of who got what.

Take MVR Infra, for instance. This Visakhapatnam-based company, linked to Muppa Venkata Rao and his family, secured contracts worth Rs 800 crores. Another company, BSCP, helmed by Bollineni Krishnaiah, also bagged projects of a similar scale.

BSR Infra, led by Jagapati Choudhary and Balusu Srinivasa Rao, took home contracts worth over Rs 2000 crores. Meanwhile, RVR Infra, owned by Rayala Venkateswara Rao, managed to secure projects exceeding Rs 2000 crores.

Megha Engineering, led by Krishna Reddy, wasn’t left out either, getting contracts worth Rs 1200 crores, while NCC, managed by Ranga Raju, bagged the biggest slice — Rs 2600 crores.

Back in the day, these details would have made headline news. But today? The mainstream media seems to be suffering from sudden memory loss. The investigative zeal that once scrutinized every tender with a magnifying glass has conveniently disappeared.

A quick Google search reveals the company backgrounds, their community or political affiliations, but apparently, that’s too much effort for our once-curious news outlets.

The irony is hard to miss. When the contracts were linked to one particular community, they made headlines. Now that the beneficiaries are different, but belong to the same feather of politics, the news has simply vanished into thin air. Irony but true!
