Major Parties in AP Raise Political Heat

The two major political parties in Andhra Pradesh are busy increasing the political heat in the state.

While the opposition TDP had just finished its annual fete of Mahanadu at Ongole, the ruling YSR Congress is busy holding a bus yatra with the SC, ST, BC and Minorities’ ministers.

The TDP’s Mahanadu had turned out to be a big crowd puller this year.

The TDP ranks gathered in large numbers giving new lease of life to the beleaguered leadership which is down with the humiliating defeat in the 2019 elections and the repeated defeats in the local body elections.

Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh have been on tour across the districts stepping up the political heat, targeting the ruling party and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

At 72, Chandrababu Naidu is fighting a relentless battle to stage a comeback in the next elections and is leaving no stone unturned to change the mood of the people.

Naidu has once again proved to be a crowd puller with large number of people attending his rallies in the districts and the Mahanadu event at Ongole.

On its part, the YSR Congress too is busy to repeat its victory in the next election reducing the opposition TDP to further lower than the 23 seats it had won in the last election.

Jagan Mohan Reddy is making at least two visits to the districts every month, while his party ranks are busy making door to door visits.

The bus yatra by the ministers is also drawing huge crowds giving an impression that the party would retain power in the next election.

With people rallying behind both the ruling YSR Congress and the opposition TDP in almost equal numbers, one wonders what would be the situation when the actual battle sets on in 2024 or even earlier as being anticipated by Chandrababu Naidu.

In all probability, the next election would only be between the YSR Congress and the TDP, reducing Jana Sena, BJP, Congress and the Communists to the zero.

It would also be a clear and vibrant caste battle too, given the mood of the leadership.
