Telugu Desam Party legislator from Guntur (West) Maddali Giridhar is all set to follow the path shown by his colleague form Gannavaram Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan.
Giridhar, who met YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday, did not formally join the party but gave clear indication that he has deserted the TDP.
After meeting Jagan, the TDP MLA said he had met the chief minister only to discuss the constituency problems.
He, however, lavished praises on Jagan and criticised TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on various issues.
Stating that he was very happy to have a meeting with the chief minister, Giridhar said he had requested the latter to release funds for various works in the constituency.
“The chief minister reacted instantly and directed the officials to release Rs 25 crore pending clearance for the works taken up in the district,” he said.
What is more, Giri appreciated Jagan for having clarity of thought on the capital issue.
“He told me the government had no capacity to spend Rs 1 lakh crore on the capital city in Amaravati, but assured that the legislative capital would continue in Amaravati,” he said.
The MLA alleged that there was absolutely no development in Amaravati and accused Naidu of instigating the farmers to take up agitation.
“There will be clarity on the capital city after the submission of high-power committee. So, farmers should wait till then,” he said.
At the same time, the TDP MLA praised even Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. He said there was an industrial revolution during the YSR regime and he was confident that there would be similar regime during the Jagan regime.
He also criticised the double standards of Naidu on the English medium issue.
