LVS To Take Charge At Last!

LVS To Take Charge At Last!

It has been long time since one has heard about senior IAS officer L V Subrahmanyam, former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

After he was shunted out of his post following his confrontation with Chief Minister’s Office in November last, Subrahmanyam was transferred to an insignificant position as Director General of the AP Human Resources Development Institute, Bapatla.

But he did not report to his new assignment and went on a long leave. He reportedly told his friends that he would not return to Andhra Pradesh again in his official capacity and work in loopline post.

There were reports that he was trying hard for a central deputation but the chances of him getting a job at the Centre were very bleak as he had only five months of service left.

Now that Subrahmanyam is set to retire by Thursday and he had no chance of retiring in a Delhi posting, he is compelled to join the duty at AP Human Resources Development Institute, Bapatla and take charge, before retiring.

But there is a complete lockdown in Guntur district because of Coronavirus. So, Subrahmanyam, who is presently in Hyderabad, cannot come to Bapatla to take charge.

He reportedly wrote to chief secretary about his position and his inability to take charge personally before retiring.

Having no other option, the Andhra government gave a facility to Subrahmanyam – to take charge as director general of the institute through online and also retire subsequently through online by Thursday evening.

So, it is a sort of win-win situation for both. By making Subrahmanyam taking charge in AP for his last posting, the Jagan government gained a point.

At the same time, Subrahmanyam also fulfilled his vow of not returning to Andhra again to work as he got the chance to join the post online and retire online!
