Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of legendary actor, Telugu Desam Party founder and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao, is going to play a bigger role in the YSR Congress party in the coming days, if the sources in the party are to be believed.
Lakshmi Parvathi, who joined the YSRC before 2014 elections and was later made party secretary, had been playing a very limited role in the party all these days.
She used to appear before the media very rarely to attack her bitter enemy, present TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
However, of late, she has been making her presence felt quite often. She was made the chairperson of Telugu Academy and that gave her a lot of prominence in the media and the party.
But what makes Lakshmi Parvathi’s role in the party to grow in the coming days is the petition filed by her in the ACB court in Hyderabad against Chandrababu Naidu in connection with a disproportionate assets’ case of 2005. Naidu obtained a stay from the court on the hearings in the case.
The ACB court has recently vacated the stay on the case and has posted the case to November 25 (Monday).
Apparently, Lakshmi Parvathi has got the green signal from chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and was promised of all assistance from the government to fight the case against Naidu.
If Lakshmi Parvathi is able to prove even a single charge against Naidu in the disproportionate assets case, it will be a big victory for her and naturally, her stakes in the party will go up.
“Nobody is surprised if she gets a bigger position – even if it is Rajya Sabha seat, if she can win the case against Naidu,” a party source said.
