The fourth phase of the extensive seven-phase 2024 Lok Sabha elections will take place today in all 25 constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, with the final results to be announced on June 4.
The primary contenders in this year's election are the BJP-TDP-JSP alliance, the INDIA bloc, and the YSRCP.
The 2014 election saw the TDP winning 15 seats, the BJP securing 2, and the YSRCP obtaining 8 seats. The 2019 election brought about substantial changes, with the YSRCP winning 22 seats and the TDP reduced to just 3 seats.
The upcoming 2024 elections are expected to be influenced by the emergence of the INDIA bloc, which includes various regional parties from the state.
This year's election will feature coalitions of parties competing against each other. The INDIA bloc, led by the Congress and comprising several local parties, will face off against the BJP-TDP-JSP alliance.
As per the agreement, the BJP will contest six Lok Sabha and 10 assembly seats while TDP will fight 17 parliamentary and 144 state seats and JSP got two Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats to fight for as part of the deal.
In the previous assembly elections, the YSRCP secured a decisive victory with 151 seats, while the TDP managed to win only 22 seats. To form a government in this southern state, a party needs to secure a majority of 88 seats.
In the assembly elections, the BJP will compete in 10 seats, the TDP in 144 seats, and the JSP in 21 seats.
