YSR Congress party MP P Mithun Reddy, who got a reprieve from the Supreme Court from being arrested in the alleged liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh, moved the state high court on Thursday seeking certain instructions to the police during the interrogation.
The Special Investigation Team of the state police department summoned him to appear before the investigating officer in Vijayawada with relevant documents on Friday and Mithun Reddy has no option but to attend the questioning as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
But he filed a petition in the high court requesting that he should be permitted to bring his lawyer along with him during the interrogation and that entire process should be video recorded. The HC will take up his plea later in the day.
Earlier, Mithun Reddy sought anticipatory bail fearing arrest, which was rejected by the High Court. The Supreme Court later directed that he should not be arrested but must cooperate with the investigation.
Meanwhile, former YSR Congress party MP V Vijayasai Reddy is also scheduled to appear before the SIT for questioning in the liquor scam case. He was initially summoned for April 18 so that he could be questioned along with Mithun Reddy.
But Sai Reddy requested that he would appear a day earlier – on Thursday itself. His previous public remarks claimed that Kasireddy was the central figure in the liquor scam, raising expectations about what details he might reveal in the SIT inquiry.
