Liquor scam: Mithun Reddy seeks anticipatory bail

Liquor scam: Mithun Reddy seeks anticipatory bail

YSR Congress Party MP from Rajampet, P Mithun Reddy, approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday, seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the liquor scam being investigated by the state police.

This development comes a week after former YSRCP general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy accused Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, a former advisor to the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, of masterminding the liquor scam during the previous regime and hinted at revealing more details soon.

Apparently fearing that the state government might implicate him in the alleged scam, Mithun Reddy filed a petition seeking anticipatory bail.

He stated that some newspapers had reported his name being included in the FIR related to liquor irregularities.

Mithun Reddy pointed out that, according to media reports, Excise Deputy Commissioner Satyaprasad’s statement also mentioned his name.

In his petition, he clarified that, as a Member of Parliament, he has no involvement in the state government’s policy decisions.

He further objected to being linked to the case, stating that while certain distilleries received allocations and others had their quotas reduced, associating his name with these decisions was unwarranted. He firmly denied any connection to the alleged scam.

The High Court is expected to hear Mithun Reddy’s petition in the coming days.
