Land Titling Act: A major blunder by Jagan

The Land Titling Act passed by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in 2022 that came into force on the eve of the elections proved to be a major disaster for the YSRCP.

It was actually proposed by the Centre but for some reason, Jagan showed undue haste in implementing it whereas no other State in India did the same.

The TDP made ample use of this Act by claiming that disputed lands would be taken away by the government and even in cases where the title deeds were clear, the owners would get only photocopies whereas the government would retain the originals.

While it is not known if this is true or not, the TDP ran a massive IVR campaign with Chandrababu Naidu’s voice reaching out to the nook and corner of the State warning the people that they would lose their lands.

This alarmed even those sections of the population that were benefitting from Jagan’s welfare schemes.

By the time the government woke up to the situation and went into damage control mode, it was too late.
