Now that YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy lost the recent assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh with a massive margin, those who got a lot of favours from them by praising him when he was in power are making a quiet exit from Tadepalli and its surroundings.
While those are hardcore loyalists of Jagan and the party are still coming to the Tadepalli camp office to give him moral support, those who had gained huge benefits from him, whether it is 40-plus advisors he had appointed or journalists who were in the party’s paylist are nowhere to be seen.
Sources said the party leaders are talking about two women journalists of different Telugu television channels, who were regularly seen in Tadepalli and the party’s central office at Mangalagiri when Jagan was in power.
One of them did extensive lobbying with Jagan to get a prime nominated post in an autonomous institution and the other, who was believed to be closer to the power centre and had given extensive coverage of the campaign of YSRCP leaders during the elections in her television channel.
Sources said the first woman is understood to have resigned from her post on moral grounds but has stopped coming to Tadepalli.
Other journalist, too, who allegedly made big money and even bought a luxurious flat, is also not to be seen these days. She is said to be trying to get transferred to Hyderabad.
So is the case with the people working in YSRCP’s social media teams.
At a time when the party workers and leaders are facing attacks from the TDP activists, they are not reacting as strongly as they are supposed to be.
At least now, Jagan should realise who is the genuine well-wishers of the party and who are not. He should not encourage sycophants and selfish leaders around him. They were the ones who had misled them before the elections.
