Rebel YSR Congress party MLAs – Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy from Nellore (rural) assembly constituency and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy from Venkatagiri – are likely to contest the next assembly elections on Telugu Desam Party ticket.
On Tuesday, the TDP formally invited Kotamreddy into the party. Senior TDP leaders – Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, N Amarnath Reddy and others called him for a meeting at the residence of TDP general secretary Beeda Ravichandra and asked him to extend support to the TDP.
The TDP leaders reportedly conveyed to Kotamreddy that he would be given the party ticket to contest the next assembly elections from his own constituency. The rebel MLA, too, agreed to join the party.
Kotamreddy responded positively and declared that he would join the TDP soon. He also announced that he would extend all cooperation to the ongoing padayatra of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh and make it a grand success.
Already, two other rebel MLAs – Udayagiri MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy and Anam Ramnarayana Reddy agreed to join the TDP and they were also assured of the party tickets in the coming elections.
“The entry of three YSRC MLAs into the TDP is a good beginning for the party. We are going to sweep all the seats in the district in the coming elections,” Chandramohan Reddy said.
