The sudden hospitalization of senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao is attributed to the raids on his son’s automobile showroom in Guntur by the revenue authorities on Friday.
Apparently, Kodela feared that his reputation would be at stake if he and his family members were caught in the raids and the police arrested him in connection with the case of stealing the assembly furniture.
“This has caused a lot of mental tension and that led to high blood pressure and mild heart pain,” a TDP leader said.
On Friday, the authorities raided Gautam Automotives Showroom at Chuttugunta. The showroom belongs to Kodela’s son Kodela Sivaram. They searched for over three hours in the showroom and found some furniture including 20 chairs, tables and computers which were allegedly taken from the state assembly.
Kodela and his advocate tried to stop the officials from conducting searches, but the assembly authorities showed him the permission letter given by the assembly secretary. The advocate warned that if they conduct searches without warrant, they will go to court.
Kodela had earlier agreed to pay value of furniture to the government and accepted that he had shifted furniture to his house.
It was alleged that following instructions of Kodela Sivaram some persons had taken 30-laptops and one printer from NSP Guest House in Sattenapalli in 2018. Based on that Sattenapalli police registered a case.
