Senior YSR Congress party leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Kodali Venkateshwara Rao alias Kodali Nani was on Wednesday hospitalised following reports of a massive heart attack.
According to sources, Kodali Nani, who has been in Hyderabad for the last few days, was admitted to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) Hospital in Hyderabad, following complaints of chest pain.
“He has been admitted to the intensive care unit and doctors are closely monitoring his condition,” a hospital source said.
While official statement is awaited, hospital sources indicate that his condition remains serious.
Known for his loud-mouth nature and aggressive attack on his political opponents with foul language, 54-years-old Kodali Nani was originally from Telugu Desam Party. He represented Gudivada assembly constituency four times since 2004.
He was close associate of NTR family, particularly Nandamuri Harikrishna. He is also a close friend of Junior NTR and produced the popular film “Adhurs” with him, in association with his co-MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
Later, he joined the YSRCP headed by former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and had been loyal to him since then. He served as civil supplies minister in the Jagan cabinet.
After his defeat in the May 2024 elections, Kodali Nani stepped back from active political activities reportedly due to health concerns. Rumours about his health had been circulating on social media.
In addition to that, his family members and YSRCP leaders are closely monitoring his progress.
In 2022, too, Kodali Nani was hospitalised due to kidney-related issues. He underwent kidney-related surgery at Apollo Hospitals.
