Khattar brought any message to Jagan?

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s meeting with his Haryana counterpart Manoharlal Khattar at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday raised many an eyebrow in political circles.

While the YSRC and official sources say it was only a courtesy call by Jagan on Khattar, who has been undergoing treatment at the Pema Wellness Resorts in Rushikonda for the past four days, there is a talk that there is more to the courtesy call than what meets the eye.

First of all, there is no great friendship between Jagan and Khattar, who are of different ages and hail from different states.

Even if they are acquaintances, when the chief minister of a state visits another state, it is a matter of courtesy that the visiting CM will come to the residence of the local CM for a meeting.

But in this case, Jagan himself flew down to Viskhapatnam in special flight exclusively to meet Khattar.

There is also talk that Khattar might not have come to Visakhapatnam only for naturopathy treatment, as the port city doesn’t have any such popular nature cure centre; and people generally go to Kerala or Karnataka, which are known for such treatments.

Another talk for this suspicion is that though Khattar is a hardcore Bharatiya Janata Party leader, there is no information to the Andhra BJP leaders about his visit, as none of them had called on him at the Centre.

So, this has led to the talk that Khattar has come to Visakhapatnam on a secret mission and informed only Jagan about his arrival.

The chief minister went all the way to Vizag only to meet Khattar for a couple of hours – he had no other official function there – and return to Tadepalli by evening.

Sources said Khattar, known to be a key follower of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, might have brought some message from Modi and the party to convey it to Jagan.

Interestingly, before going to the wellness centre, Khatter had a meeting with Visakha Sarada Peetham seer Swamy Swaroopanandendra, which also triggered speculations.

Sources said Khattar might have discussed two major issues with Jagan: one, the support of YSRC to the NDA government in the forthcoming Presidential and Vice Presidential elections and/or allotment of a Rajya Sabha seat to one of the persons to be recommended by Modi.

“Since YSRC doesn’t have any interests in national politics, Jagan might not have any objection to support the NDA candidate in the Presidential elections. With regard to the Rajya Sabha seat, too, Jagan might not have any objection,” sources saud.

However, what is curious for the observers to know is what Jagan had asked the Centre in return – it could be a personal favour or a favour to the state as a whole. In any case, it has to be a win-win situation for both Modi and Jagan!
