Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani, who has been adopting blow-hot-blow-cold attitude towards the party leadership for the last couple of years, has once again showed his disgruntlement.
For quite some time, Kesineni has been fighting with the leaders within the party, who have been strongly opposing his candidature. Former MLC Buddha Venkanna and Nagul Meera have been leading a campaign against him.
Added to this, Kesineni has been peeved with party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging his brother Kesineni Chinni, leading to the talk that the latter might be fielded from Vijayawada LS seat this time.
Yet, Kesineni has been firm in staying with the party and making statements in support of Naidu. When the latter was arrested in skill development scam, the MP played a major role in lobbying with the Centre in Delhi.
Now, Kesineni is once again dejected with the latest talk in the party that Naidu might field a BC candidate from Vijayawada parliamentary constituency. He feels the conspiracy behind such a talk is Buddha Venkanna, who is a BC.
He told reporters that he had no objection if the party high command wants to field a BC candidate from Vijayawada.
“But he should be sincere and honest leaders like former deputy Mayor Gogula Ramana. I shall personally work for such people and see that they win the seat with good majority,” he said.
Kesineni, however, said he would not cooperate if some other leaders, claiming to be the BCs, who were involved in sex rackets, call money scandals and land encroachments are given the tickets. Obviously, he was indirectly referring to the allegations against Buddha Venkanna.
Kesineni extended support to the party leadership for entering into an alliance with Jana Sena Party.
“There is nothing wrong in the TDP-Jana Sena combine for the sake of people. In fact, alliances are not a new phenomenon in politics. It is quite common for like-minded parties coming together,” he said.
