Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had asked the Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy asking him to send a copy of the AP Disha Act 2019.
AP Assembly Speaker, Thammineni Sitaram, made an announcement in the Assembly on Monday and congratulated the government and the members for the prestigious and historic Act.
The State government, particularly the ruling YSR Congress is celebrating across the State with women on the new Act.
Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy felt that the Act should become a model to the country and should be adopted at the national level.
Accordingly, the first response came from the Delhi government. The chief minister had congratulated the AP Assembly and the government for the historic Act.
The Delhi Chief Minister said that his government too would like to study the Act and make a similar one for the national capital.
The Disha Act prescribes death punishment to the perpetrators of rape and molestation of women, girls in 21 working days.
The chief minister said that the police would have to complete the investigation in seven working days, prosecution in another seven working days and finally execute death punishment in seven days completing the total process in 21 working days.
When the Speaker announced the interest of the Delhi government and informed the members about the Delhi Chief Minister’s comments, the entire House greeted the chief minister for the success.
The Speaker had directed the Assembly Secretary to send a copy of the Act to the Delhi government as requested.
