TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s public meeting in Kandukuru of SPSR Nellore district on Wednesday night was the second one in his list.
The stampede killed eight persons and injured close to 30 persons. The injured are being treated in the local government hospital.
The first stampede of Naidu’s publicity stunt took place in 2016 during Godavari Pushkarams, in which 30 people were killed.
Naidu occupied the general bathing ghat discording the VIP Ghat, only to have an impressive crowd for which he was shooting.
Naidu’s men kept people waiting outside the bathing ghat while Naidu’s film shooting drones and other cameras were moving around over the ground, when the stampede occurred killing 30 people.
It was almost the same in Kandukuru where 8 persons were killed and 30 were injured.
The TDP was given permission to hold the public meeting at the NTR Circle in Kandukuru town.
But the two groups in the TDP led by Inturi Nageswara Rao and Inturi Rajesh have put up two layers of the hoardings on both sides and were fighting on it.
K Atchannaidu called both the warring leaders to Mangalagiri office and asked them to put up a third layer of the hoardings on both sides further narrowing down the road.
With three layers of hoardings occupying the road on both sides, it could not accommodate the crowd leading to the stampede.
Naidu wanted to have more people present at his meeting and hence moved to the narrow road from the permitted NTR Circle.
