Kamma votes in Telangana for Cong? TDP denies

Kamma votes in Telangana for Cong? TDP denies

For the last couple of days, there have been reports on social media that the Telugu Desam Party has made an appeal to the Kamma voters of Telangana to vote for the Congress party in the upcoming assembly elections.

The reports said a letter, purported to have been written by TDP president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, was sent to all Kamma voters in Telangana, stating that the party has withdrawn from the contest in the Telangana elections due to peculiar circumstances.

In the letter, Naidu is believed to have asked the pro-TDP voters, particularly those from Kamma community, to vote for the Congress.

He reportedly told them that it would be better to vote for the Congress, rather than the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This has led to the talk that Naidu had strategically withdrawn from the contest in Telangana only to see his erstwhile follower A Revanth Reddy to become the chief minister of Telangana.

The TDP, however, strongly denied the reports of Naidu writing such a letter to Kamma voters of Telangana. TDP Andhra unit president K Atchennaidu said the reports were part of YSR Congress party’s malicious propaganda to defame the TDP.

“YSRCP is a fake party and it indulges in such fake campaign through fake letters. It is absolutely rubbish that Naidu has written such a letter. The YSRCP is behind such a letter with a conspiracy to damage the image of Naidu,” Atchennaidu said.

He clarified that Naidu had not made any suggestions to the TDP workers or followers with regard to Telangana.

“Even the signature of Naidu was forged and  we shall complain to the police,” he warned.
