Jogaiah disbands Kapu Sena, till elections!

Senior Kapu leader and former MP Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah, who wrote a strongly-worded letter to Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan criticising him for accepting only 24 assembly seats and three MP seats as part of alliance with the Telugu Desam Party, has decided to keep away from politics, albeit for the time being.

On Saturday, Jogaiah announced that he was disbanding the Kapu Samkshema Sena, which he had founded a few years ago and said he would not, henceforth, interfere in the state politics.

He, however, said he would continue to make critical analysis of the state political developments.

Apparently, Jogaiah took the decision following the criticism that he was covertly supporting the YSR Congress party led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, by targeting Pawan Kalyan. The defection of his son Chegondi Suryaprakash into the YSRCP, lent credence to this criticism.

The former MP said he had dissolved the Kapu Samkshema Sena and all its committees till the completion of elections in Andhra Pradesh.

He said his whole objective was to transform Kapus into a powerful political force, dictating the state politics, rather than begging for seats.

“I never craved for any posts and positions and never worked for my self-interests. I even gave up my Lok Sabha seat to join Praja Rajyam. I was misunderstood by Pawan Kalyan and Jana Sena Party workers, besides others. Some of them even made disrespectful comments against me,” he regretted.

Jogaiah said Kapus had suffered a lot when Chiranjeevi merged Praja Rajyam with the Congress party.

“I only wanted that such a situation does not get repeated this time,” he added.
