The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday extended the suspension of three senior IPS officers for another six months, in connection with their alleged involvement in the kidnap and harassment of Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani.
The officers are: former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, former Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata and another IPS officer Vishal Gunni.
The government had previously issued suspension orders against them, pending investigation into the Jethwani case. As their suspension period was set to end, it has now been extended until September 25.
These officers were accused of wrongfully arresting Bollywood actress Kadambari Jathwani in a fabricated case, leading to significant controversy.
Allegations also surfaced that they violated All India Services rules, prompting the government to act on a review committee’s recommendation to extend their suspension.
