Former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) turned politician V V Lakshminaryana is always considered as a villain by the YSR Congress party for witch-hunting chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the alleged quid pro quo case a decade ago.
But of late, this gentleman, has been giving statements praising Jagan and his decisions.
The other day, Lakshminarayana, who is better called as JD, extended support to the chief minister’s policy of decentralised administration, though he did not exclusively support the three capitals plan.
He agreed with the contention of Jagan that it is not proper to locate all the government offices, legislature and judiciary at one place. He went a step ahead and said every district should be developed as if it is a capital city.
Very recently, the former CBI director was the only leader from the opposition side who extended support to the controversial government order (GO Rt No. 1) brought in by the chief minister to regulate rallies and meetings on the roads by political parties.
On Saturday, too, Lakshminarayana said the GO No. 1 was brought in at the right time and there was nothing wrong in it.
“In the wake of recent incidents at Kandukuru and Guntur, such orders are essential to bring some kind of discipline among the political parties,” he said.
Stating that the permission of police is essential for conduct of meetings in public places, especially on the roadsides.
“We have to welcome such orders. But the same order has to be applied to all the political parties, not just the opposition parties,” he said, adding that it would send wrong message to the people.
At the same time, Lakshminarayana was all praise for Jagan for setting up the prestigious kidney research centre at Padmanabhapuram near Palasa in Srikakulam district for the Uddanam kidney patients.
“I really appreciate the initiative taken by the Jagan government to come to the rescue of kidney patients. No other government in the past had thought of providing a permanent solution to the kidney diseases in Uddanam,” he said, after paying a visit to the hospital.
Stating that it is a great step on the part of Jagan to take up construction of a super-speciality hospital for kidney patients, soon after he became the chief minister, Lakshinaryana was also all praise for the Jagan government for providing safe drinking water to every household in Uddanam at a cost of Rs 700 crore.
