JD finds fault with Naidu for supporting Murmu!

Retired IPS officer and former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Lakshminarayana has found fault with the stand taken by Telugu Desam Party led by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the ongoing Presidential elections.

JD, as Lakshminarayana is popularly known, took to social media to convey the message that the TDP should not have extended support to the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Droupadi Murmu without getting any assurance from the Centre on special category status.

He reminded that the TDP had snapped ties with the BJP and come out of the National Democratic Alliance on the demand of special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP also moved a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government in the past on the same demand.

The special category status demand was exploited politically to gain mileage in the elections.

The TDP had given the impression to the people that it had to suffer political losses only because of its fight for special category status.

But now, by supporting the BJP candidate in the Presidential elections, the TDP has lost its credibility on the special category status issue.

“The YSR Congress party, too, came to power on the plant of special category status. But by extending unconditional support to the BJP candidate, it has compromised on the issue,” JD said.

He felt that both the TDP and YSRCP should have demanded special category status before extending support to Murmu.

“At least now, they should prove their sincerity by raising the demand for special category status before taking part in the voting,” the former CBI official said.
