Jana Sena MLA Pulaparthi declared PAC chairman

Senior MLA from Jana Sena Party Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu was on Tuesday declared appointed as the chairman of Public Accounts Committee of Andhra Pradesh state legislative assembly.

A notification to this effect was issued by the assembly secretariat. While Pulaparthi was nominated as the PAC chairman, Telugu Desam Party MLA Kuna Ravi Kumar was appointed as Public Sector Undertakings Committee chairman and Vegulla Jogeshwara Rao as the Estimates Committee chairman.

In all, nine MLAs and three MLCs have been appointed in each of the committees, the notification issued by assembly speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu said.

The PAC has, in all, 12 members, including the chairperson. Of the 11 members, three will be elected from the legislative council.

The other members of the PAC are: Sriram Rajagopal (Jaggayyapet), B V Jayanageshwar Reddy (Yemmiganur), Arimilli Radhakrishna (Tanuku), Ashok Reddy (Giddalur), Burla Ramanjaneyulu (Prathipadu), Nakka Anand Babu (Vemuru) and Kolla Lalitha Kumari (S Kota) from Telugu Desam Party and P Vishnu Kumar Raju (Visakhapatnam) from BJP.

Ramanjaneyulu, a three-time MLA from Bhimavaram, was elected unanimously as the PAC chairman post in November last. As per the traditions of the state legislature, the PAC chairperson post is given to the main opposition party in the assembly.

However, the YSRCP has only 11 MLAs in the 175-member Andhra assembly, thereby it could not get the the leader of opposition status.

YSR Congress party senior leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy also filed the nomination, but later he later withdrew from the contest.
