Remember former Vijayawada (West) MLA Mohammad Jaleel Khan, who shot into media limelight by claiming that he had studied physics in his B Com degree?
The maverick leader, who defected from the Congress into the YSR Congress party to become an MLA in 2014 and later jumped the fence into the Telugu Desam Party, has been keeping away from political activity after the TDP lost the assembly elections miserably in May this year.
On Saturday, Jaleel Khan made a surprising statement that he was ready to touch the feet of YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. He, however, kept a rider for his action.
“I will prostrate before his feet, provided he withdraws the proposal to shift the capital city from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam,” Khan said.
Till before the last elections, this former MLA used to make nasty comments against Jagan at every given opportunity. But after Jagan became the chief minister, Khan had become quiet, unlike other TDP leaders of Krishna district like Devineni Uma, Bonda Uma and Kesineni Nani.
But on Saturday, Khan made some critical comments, albeit on a softer tone. He said the three-capitals plan was not appropriate and the entire administration has to run from one place and Amaravati is the ideal place for the same.
“I appeal to Jagan not to disturb Amaravati and cause huge loss to the farmers. If he withdraws the proposal, I will be the first person to support him and I will touch his feet,” Jaleel Khan said.
