The two years of Jagan Mohan Reddy as chief minister seems to have fetched Sakshi media the best benefits, if one goes by the advertisements in both print and tv versions.
While the government has done nothing to mark the second year of the Jagan government, the party leaders across the state, have invested in Sakshi media through advertisements, to be in the good books of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
According to a rough estimate, the Sakshi group received advertisements worth Rs 7 crore on just one day.
Though today’s advertisements are mobilised only from private individuals, including the party top leaders, the revenue is expected to be more than the assessment.
All these two years, Sakshi had received the highest benefit from the government, with Jagan issuing front page advertisements on every launch or relaunch of his cash distribution.
Payments to other media houses is comparatively less in Jagan government as Sakshi walks away with the lion’s share.
While some media houses shared the government revenue during TDP government from 2014 to 2019, it has been Sakshi all through since 2019.
Eenadu, Andhra Jyothi and TV5 were the highest beneficiaries during Naidu’s regime and Jyothi had the lion’s share as it also secured the contract of live coverage of Assembly sessions and chief minister’s programmes.
This is how the media in AP reaps the benefits from the government exchequer.
