Jagan's cousins have no links with Mundra drug seizure

The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh on Friday made it clear that Y S Anil Reddy and Y S Sunil Reddy, cousins of the chief minister, have no connections whatsoever with the recent seizure of heroin at Mundra Port in Gujarat, as alleged by Telugu Desam Party leaders.

In a clarification to the media, a government spokesman said Anil Reddy and Sunil Reddy had started Reddy Global Industries in 1999, which had grown into a conglomeration of enterprises spread across Africa, with a foray into the beverages, pharmaceutical and mining sector.

“Since the commencement of their operations in 1999, they have been conducting their businesses in a legitimate manner and have maintained an unblemished record of ethical performance, while complying with all domestic laws, rules and regulations,” the spokesman said.

Refuting the wild allegations of the TDP leaders through media that Anil and Sunil were somehow connected to the recent seizure of drugs at Mundra Port, the spokesman said neither any relevant information was supplied to substantiate these allegations nor was any prior notice issued to them.

“It is clear that these unfounded defamatory attacks are being created with an intent to indulge in mud-slinging and muck-racking, which cannot be permitted to continue in any civilized society. Reputation is an inviolable part of dignity and must be respected by all,” the spokesman said.

He requested all news channels to refrain from spreading such verifiably false information.

“If any person and/or organisation continues to spread these false and unsubstantiated allegations or seeks to impinge upon their reputation, Anil and Sunil will be constrained to take action against such persons and/or organisation in accordance with law,” the spokesman added.
