Jagan to support INDIA on LS Speaker election?

Jagan to support INDIA on LS Speaker election?

If the speculations circulating in media circles are true, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has decided to support the I.N.D.I.A bloc candidate in the election for Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha.

YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly made this decision on Tuesday.

The YSRCP has four MPs in Lok Sabha, making each member crucial in the election for Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

On Tuesday, the Congress party-led INDIA bloc decided to field Congress leader K. Suresh as its candidate for the Speaker’s post against NDA candidate Om Birla.

This move is in protest against the NDA’s refusal to follow the convention of giving the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker's position to the Opposition.

According to media reports, the INDIA bloc reached out to the YSRCP chief as part of mobilizing support from various parties for the Speaker’s election.

Senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka D K Shivakumar reportedly held talks with Jagan in Bengaluru regarding this matter.

In light of the BJP national leadership's bitter animosity towards the YSRCP, Jagan reportedly agreed to support the INDIA bloc candidate Suresh in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s election.

The YSRCP is also expected to vote in favor of the opposition bloc in the Deputy Speaker election, sources said.
