It looks like YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister has decided against attending the upcoming budget session of the state legislative assembly commencing on June 22.
According to party sources, Jagan, who was supposed to launch Praja Darbar where he was supposed to meet his party leaders and workers, besides common people at his Tadepalli camp office on Monday, deferred the programme.
Jagan is leaving for Bengaluru in a day or two, apparently to get treatment for his leg, which suffered sprain during the electioneering.
He had been there in Bengaluru for about 10 days last month. In fact, he has spent more time in Bengaluru and Pulivendula in the last one month.
After a gap of two weeks, Jagan is going to Bengaluru again. He is expected to be there for a week or more. This has led to the talk that he might abstain from the assembly sessions commencing on July 22, though it has not been officially communicated yet.
Sources said Jagan is not interested in attending the assembly session only as an MLA, as he is not being given the leader of the opposition status.
Secondly, he is not willing to face speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and address him with respect.
Thirdly, Jagan alone has to face the onslaught from the ruling Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party members, as there are no big leaders to support him and create ruckus in the House.
In fact, Jagan himself told his party MLAs that there is nothing that the party can do in the assembly due to insignificant numbers.
So, he might have thought it is better to avoid the state assembly, sources said.
