All eyes are on what YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would speak after taking oath as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada at 12.23 pm on Thursday.
Actually, the entire swearing-in process would be completed in a span of two minutes, including playing of national anthem, since no other minister would be taking oath after him. But Jagan is expected to make a 20-30 minute speech after taking oath.
According to sources, before commencing his speech, Jagan will sign a file on one of the important promises he had made as part of Navaratnas during his poll campaign. However, it has been kept a secret till now.
It may be mentioned that when his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy took over as the chief minister in 2004, he, too, signed the first file on providing electricity to agriculture free of cost, before addressing the massive gathering at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.
During his speech, Jagan is likely to announce his agenda for the next 100 days of his ruling including bringing the state’s economy, which is in shambles, back on tracks, introducing financial discipline in the administration, cutting down of wasteful expenditure, pruning the departments, decentralisation of power including increasing the number of districts from 13 to 25 and prioritisation of the people’s needs.
However, there is a talk that Jagan will make a crucial announcement from the dais which has been kept a secret. Let it be a suspense till Thursday afternoon!
