Andhra Pradesh chief minister and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy might be a Christian by faith, but when it comes to respecting the sentiments of his party workers and also common people, he will not hesitate to take part in Hindu rituals as well.
On Monday, Jagan not only took part in the concluding ceremony of Maha Rudra Sahitha Dwi Sahasra Chandi Yagam at Tadepalli in Amaravati, but also performed “Purnahuti” while pundits were chanting Vedic hymns.
The pundits also offered divine blessings to the chief minister.
The Sahasra Chandi Yagam commenced on July 29, 2017 by YSRC general secretary Aarimalla Varaprasad Reddy seeking victory for Jagan in the elections. It went on for 23 months non-stop and concluded on Monday.
It may be mentioned that Jagan has been strictly following the suggestions of Hindu priests and following the rituals.
Particularly, he is taking suggestions from Visakhapatnam Sarada peetham chief Swamy Swaroopanandendra and has become his ardent disciple.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, too, performed Maha Rudra Sahita Chandi Yagam at his farmhouse at Erravelli in Siddipet district, soon after his party won the assembly elections for a second successive term in December.
