YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered a major setback in the recent Assembly elections, with his party securing only 11 seats in the 175-member Assembly.
Now, it seems Jagan is growing suspicious of his own party MLAs, fearing that some might defect to other parties, much like a few of the YSRCP’s Rajya Sabha members did in the past.
On Monday, Jagan openly questioned the loyalty of Yerragondapalem MLA Thatiparthi Chandrasekhar, simply because he forgot to wear the party scarf while attending the budget session of the State Assembly.
While no one else noticed, Jagan closely observed that Chandrasekhar was not wearing the YSRCP scarf.
After boycotting the Governor’s address, Jagan convened a meeting with party MLAs and MLCs to discuss their strategy for the budget session.
When Chandrasekhar arrived at the meeting, Jagan immediately confronted him, asking why he wasn’t wearing the party scarf, unlike the other members. Chandrasekhar replied that he had simply forgotten.
Jagan, however, was not convinced and responded with a sarcastic remark: “Did you forget the scarf, or are you getting ready to change it?”
Feeling insulted by Jagan’s comment, Chandrasekhar left the meeting without responding, visibly humiliated by the doubt cast on his loyalty.
