Jagan Shuffles, Resuffles Visakha Officers

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is busy these days shuffling and reshuffling the bureaucrats in the Visakhapatnam city.

Amid speculations that the chief minister is moving his camp office from Tadepalli to Visakhapatnam in the last week of July, the chief minister is busy transferring the officers in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.

Last week, the government had transferred about 10 IAS officers in the GVMC, most of them handpicked by the chief minister.

This week again, nearly a handful of IAS officers were shifted in the GVMC, all of them not having any contact with the previous TDP government.

It is said that Jagan Mohan Reddy is particular about not having the loyalists of the TDP regime in the GVMC by the time he reaches the city in July.

The chief minister is said to be carrying his own masterplan to develop this steel city, once he starts working from here.

As the city has the potential to compete with the cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru and is the only major city in the east coast between Chennai and Kolkata, the chief minister wants to add more infrastructure to the city during the next two years.

The state government had already started providing additional infrastructure with nearly Rs 350 crore.

In addition to this, the government had come up with a plan to have six-lane road from Bhogapuram airport to the city for exclusive use of the ministers, senior officials and the airport commuters.
