Jagan Shifts Onus To People On Corona Testing!

Even as the Telangana government has been refusing to test each and every person for Covid-19 unless they have clear symptoms, the Andhra Pradesh government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy adopted a completely different approach.

At a review meeting held with senior officials on Monday, Jagan made it clear that the government should now focus on creating awareness among the people and educate them over the spread of Coronavirus.

He said if the people feel that they have any symptoms of Corona, they should directly go to the hospital and get tested. The onus of getting tested should be left with the people and not the government.

“They should not have any stigma. They should voluntarily undergo testing. The officials will educate them as to where they would get tested and what they should do if they test positive. The tollfree numbers of 14410 and 104 will be propagated extensively,” Jagan said.

While the authorities would campaign extensively to remove fear among the people about Corona testing, the chief minister said the government would provide all the necessary infrastructure for testing and treatment.

“The officials would take up door-to-door campaign through village volunteers. They should tell people as to what they should do if they have any symptoms. Everybody should be aware as to what they should do if they test positive,” he said.
