Within a week of joining the YSR Congress party, former Telugu Yuvatha president and prominent Kamma leader in Krishna district Devineni Avinash got a plum post in the party.
YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has appointed Avinash as the party in-charge of his favourite Vijayawada (East) assembly constituency which was represented in the past by Avinash’s father Devineni Rajasekhar.
Avinash has a huge following in Vijayawada (East) and wanted to contest the assembly elections from the same constituency on Telugu Desam Party ticket, but TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu did not entertain his request as he wanted to give the ticket to Gadde Rammohan Rao, who won the elections from there.
Naidu forced Avinash to go to Gudivada constituency to contest against sitting MLA Kodali Nani, knowing fully well that Avinash would lose in the hands of powerful Nani. This has upset Avinash, who was waiting for the right time to jump into the YSRC and finally did the same.
Avinash who was extremely happy for being made in-charge of Vijayawada (East), expressed his thanks to Jagan.
“That is how a leader should reward a loyalist, unlike Naidu who only made empty promises,” he said.
However, the fate of Gannavaram MLA Vallbhaneni Vamsi in the YSRC is still hanging in balance. He has not resigned from his assembly seat till date and so, he could not officially join the YSRC, let alone getting any post in the party.
It is learnt Vamsi does not want to resign from his assembly seat for now, but will sit independently in the assembly for some time till he quits the post and join the YSRC officially.
